Fuel Your Fun is a marketing campaign designed for kids. The campaign is part of a bigger effort to help kids eat healthy and be active called Pick a better snack TM.
Pick a better snackTM brings fruits and vegetables into the classroom for kindergarten through third grade students all over Iowa. Nutrition educators teach short interactive lessons once a month. Kids learn about kiwi, spinach, zucchini, pears and more!
As part of the program, kids get to see, touch, smell and taste fruits and vegetables. They also hear what makes them so good, where they grow and ways to eat them. Hands down (or thumbs up in this case), kids love tasting new and different fruits and vegetables. (Well, most of the time)!
Videos like this one show kids the connection between healthy eating and having fun!
Pick a better snackTM programs take place in elementary schools where a majority of the students participate in free and reduced-price meals. Click here for a map of participating school buildings.
Ask your child about the fruit or veggie tasted in class or served with school meals. Did she eat something new? What did he learn?
Find recipes and practical tips and ideas for eating well and being active in the family newsletters and bingo cards.
Help your kids be physically active at least one hour every day doing what they like!
