Legislative Communications and Engagement
The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) understands the importance of staying informed of the public health issues that are being discussed by our state legislators. We work to inform and educate our partners in the legislative branch by lending our subject matter expertise and community and population data to their deliberations. We strive to be their primary resource for public health issues and to promote their engagement with public health practitioners in their local districts.
The IDPH Policy Advisor and Legislative Liaison is the central point of contact for state legislators and legislative staff. The position is responsible for:
- tracking and monitoring bills of public health interest or that impact the department’s programs and operations,
- coordination of pertinent public health information for legislators,
- development and passage of the department’s legislative agenda each year.
To stay up to date on what public health issues are being addressed by the State General Assembly please sign up for the IDPH Legislative Update.
