The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) spoke with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday, January 15, regarding expected increases in vaccine allocation. We continue to be in close communication with our federal partners and we will provide updates as we learn more. 

The State of Iowa has announced it will close the Test Iowa drive-thru sites in Council Bluffs and Des Moines on Friday, January 15, due to anticipated blizzard conditions across western and central Iowa. Individuals who have appointments scheduled for Friday at these sites will receive an email notification from Test Iowa, and will be able to reschedule their appointment online.

Today the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) is sharing data on statewide COVID-19 vaccine administration. These updates will be published each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Reports will initially be static visualizations, including high-level information on vaccine administration totals, as well as county-level information. As part of our ongoing effort to improve our public reporting during the pandemic, we are making additional updates to the online dashboard. 

Effective January 8, 2021, the Long Term Care (LTC) dashboard will now reflect individuals who have died as a result of COVID-19 using the new methodology announced in December. LTC deaths have been and continue to be included in the overall COVID-19 death total using the new method, however this change was not yet reflected in the public facing LTC-specific dashboard.
