The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners continue to investigate a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections potentially linked to ALDI, Hy-Vee, and Jewel-Osco grocery store brand “garden salads” containing iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, and carrots. Hy-Vee and Jewel-Osco grocery stores have recalled their store brand bagged salads specifically labeled as “garden salads” and sold in mid-western states.

The Iowa Department of Public Health announced today that it has received the first reported case of neuroinvasive West Nile Virus this season. The case was confirmed by the State Hygienic Laboratory and is an adult (18 to 40 years old) from Polk County.

Iowa Records First Sustained Reduction in HIV Diagnoses since Reporting Began (6/11/20)

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has released the 2019 Iowa End-of-Year HIV Surveillance Report. The report shows a 30% reduction in HIV diagnoses over the last three years – this is the first sustained reduction in HIV diagnoses since HIV reporting began in 1998.
