On December 16, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) received updated planning numbers for COVID-19 vaccine allocations from the CDC. As we have said all along, these are planning numbers that will continue to change.
Today the federal government notified the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) that the State of Iowa, as well as all other states, will not receive the volume of vaccine initially anticipated.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Emergency Use Authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Iowa will begin receiving shipments of Pfizer doses the week of December 13, based on population size and target populations. Shipments will continue to arrive weekly throughout Iowa.
The state of Iowa has updated the positive case analysis dashboard on coronavirus.iowa.gov to include new data for total tests, in addition to individuals tested, providing the public more comprehensive testing data that more clearly illustrates recent virus activity and testing volume.
