The Iowa Department of Public Health, along with Gov. Kim Reynolds, is asking the public to #StepUpMaskUpIA. This new outreach campaign encourages Iowans to follow important public health mitigation measures such as wearing a cloth face covering when in public.

The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners continue to investigate a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections potentially linked to ALDI, Hy-Vee, and Jewel-Osco grocery store brand “garden salads” containing iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, and carrots. Hy-Vee and Jewel-Osco grocery stores have recalled their store brand bagged salads specifically labeled as “garden salads” and sold in mid-western states.

Additional COVID-19 Cases in Iowa (3/10/20)

Testing at Iowa’s State Hygienic Laboratory has indicated five additional presumptive positive cases of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iowa residents, a total of 13 presumptive positive cases. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), the five new cases are all older adults (61 to 80 years) from Johnson County and were on the same Egyptian cruise as seven other presumptive positive cases. All are in self isolation and recovering at home.

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced the first flu-related deaths of the 2019-2020 influenza season: an older adult (61-80 years of age) Central Iowa woman, and an elderly (81+ years of age) Northwest Iowa woman. Both women had underlying conditions or contributing factors.
