The Iowa Department of Public Health announces that local WIC agencies will be participating at emergency assistance sites in Cedar Rapids and Marion this week.
“For families, access to food is vital, especially in the areas hit the hardest by the recent derecho,” said Dr. Nalo Johnson, IDPH Director of the Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention. “Having WIC outreach at emergency assistance sites will help reach people who greatly need this service.”
WIC staff will have outreach materials to help inform about the program and its services. Anyone who visits an emergency assistance site and is interested in signing up for WIC will be scheduled for an appointment at their local WIC agency.
