Continuing Education Opportunities
Below are some organizations you can contact for continuing education classes. The Iowa Board of Cosmetology cannot endorse a specific course and provides this list as a courtesy during the COVID-19 Pandemic. You are welcome to contact other schools or associations of cosmetology or barbering as well as local universities and colleges to find out what they have to offer for scope of practice hours and Iowa Law and Sanitation.
Please be sure whomever you select will issue a certificate that meets the requirements as outlined in IAC 645 Chapter 64.
Go to cbiowa.org for details and registration information.
Iowa NIC Exam Provider
The Iowa Department of Public Health has contracted with PSI to provide examination services. The Department, through PSI, will exclusively use the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) examinations. You may schedule your appointment without prior approval from the Iowa Board of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences at the discretion of your school. The fee outlined in the Candidate Bulletin is for each examination, whether you are taking the examination for the first time or repeating. Exam fees are paid directly to PSI; do not send exam fees to the Board. Exam fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable
