Annual Report Shows Pause in Obesity Rate Climb

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has released the 2014 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) report, compiled in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). One statistic in the most recent report is notable in that it has remained stable. The prevalence of obesity, which has steadily increased, leveled off in 2014. The percentage of Iowans who are either overweight or obese was 66.9 percent in 2014; this is relatively unchanged from 67 percent in 2013.
